Summer seems to have arrived in Norwich and it was a beautiful sunny day, warm and surprising only because a week ago we had snow! Add an early morning breakfast networking meeting with the amazing breakaway Networking team and I was smiling all the way to the studio.
There was however a small surprise waiting for me. I have a small filming job to undertake next week and the actor to be filmed was escorted into my studio by my friend, and the World's only Dr Who Mastermind, Karen Davies. The actor is none other than Terry Molloy, alias Davros. Ok Benfield, don't blow this! Act cool But I must have been smiling like a very smiley thing. Terry was amazing! Professional, witty, friendly and very accommodating (Can I take a photo Terry, can I use your name Terry etc. etc.) We talked about the scary moments from Dr Who, the bits he liked, the bits he loved and then he read the script like the seasoned professional that he is, it was incredible! So, no pressure then. :) I have a few days to compose myself.... Eeeeeeek! A beautiful sunny spring day and with my camera in hand I'm heading out to Cringleford Norfolk to visit some old friends. The GoGoDragons of 2015 have all but gone and all that is left is a memory... And then though the gates of a privately owned Mill House I drive and there stands Morgan in his Black and white glory! The Mill owner has a lovely collection of Gorillas and Dragons. They are dotted across his landscape and look very much at home. The sight of the beasts once more, the sun shining and the birds singing and I am transported back to last summer and the GoGoDragons! trail. It was such great fun working for Break Charity! And helping to change young lives. Hopefully I will be involved in the new venture going forward. Watch this space.
Congratulations to John Popely of Anglia Print Ltd. This year he was awarded the Queens award for Industry! I was lucky enough to meet up with John today in his print shop and meet his amazing team. What an exceptionally nice guy and what a happy team. Those that know me will know that I am digital guy and this whole print thing is a foreign language to me, but John too time to explain all about Litho and Digital printing and the differences between them. Anglia Print is an environmentally friendly printer based in Beccles, they are also the only printer to be rated as "Carbon Neutral" in the area. John explained that last year they had zero chemical waste! Impressive stuff. More details can be found on their web page.
I was there to take some photos for promotion and came away with admiration and whole lot more knowledge around the printing process. When I need anything printed, the Anglia print team are my goto printers! Well done John and the team! And thank you. I have been invited back to the Maddermarket Theatre to take rehearsal photos for the brochure and publicity. It's a great little Theatre based in the Norwich Lanes and I love working there. The cast of "The Vortex" directed by Stash Kirkbride were very friendly, very photogenic and I'm happy with the result! I am tempted to ask a couple of them back to the studio for a Photo shoot one day. No sneak previews currently though, as these photos will need to go to print ready for the big reveal.
The 1st of May and a Promotional photography shoot for an up and coming Maddermarket Theatre show. The sun shone through the leafy streets of the city of Norwich and armed with camera, reflector and my imagination (and actors dressed as hippies) I chose a good location for the recreation of the Abbey Road album. With frequent stops for the occasional car that wanted to use the road (unacceptable! Don't you know I am a creative! ;) How can I be expected to work in these conditions! :) ) we attracted a lot of attention, possibly because one of the Hippies bore a remarkable resemblance to Jesus, as we bagged some warm sunny shots capturing the lazy, hazy, Woodstock feeling.
