The Great Hall Theatre Company

28/6/2016

Another of the local theatres that I support is the Great Hall Theatre Company and tonight is the usual monthly meeting of the executive committee. It's amazing the skills that you acquire while running a theatre company, the jobs that you have to pick up and the team management / event management that is required. We run six shows a year in an established arena style theatre but have to transform the room from a ballroom to a professional production space in just a few hours and then return it back after the production run. I never knew quite how much work was required before I took this on but it is always a joy to see a production come together, always wonderful to see the audiences enjoy the entertainment. I liked to see the excitement of our audience before they go in and hear their comments as they leave. I suppose that it's my love of the whole event and bringing some magic into peoples lives that spurs me on. Live entertainment, there is nothing quite like it.

British Art show 8

It's been no surprise to people that know me that the referendum result shocked me to my core.  I won't dwell on politics here, it is not the place. I spent today at the British Art Show at the Castle Museum promoting my marketing work. I then ran hot foot to the Norwich Museum to talk about the Maddermarket and maybe a tie in with our Medieval Mystery Plays and then some more auditions back in the studio. It's tough to network with people, balance the demands of a being a sole trader with family life and also be criticised for whining and not getting out there and making Britain great again. Well, I'm here, I'm doing my best and I'm also supporting the people hit most.  This isn't going to be easy but I guess that nothing worthwhile ever is. Onwards! x

Auditions for the Norwich Medieval Mystery plays continue and we've seen some amazing people, some breathtaking auditions and heard some beautiful voices. It's going to be a hard call to cast three people from the hundreds that have applied. Decision time soon though. Watch this space. :)

My first trip to the rehearsal of the Return to the Forbidden planet at the Maddermarket Theatre tonight. Singing practise with the amazing Joe Ringer and it's sounding really great! Some props are now available and the cast are looking great in them! Video is coming together nicely and I can't wait to get into the main auditorium and see the spaceship come together. Don't miss this show!

First day of auditions for the Norwich Medieval Mystery plays and we have been blown away by the sheer quality and energy of the attendees. There are some very talented people out there and we feel lucky to have seen their abilities. A big thank you to everyone that came today. Can't wait to see the remaining shortlisted applicants over the next few days.

Cast and crew worked admirably together and I was really pleased with the interaction with the audience.  Everyone happy, storyline flowed beautifully and I was so proud of everyone.  Feedback from the diners was very welcome. I love that we helped everyone have a great time. There is no greater treat that to help someone enjoy their leisure and this team rocked. I'm so proud of you all.

A trip down to Radio Norfolk and the Stephen Humphrey show to promote SIX-15 and the up and coming Murder Mystery on the 21st June at the Library Restaurant. I went "dressed for radio" in character as Professor Euonymous Peach. I have to say I rather liked the bowler hat look despite looking rather like something out of a Clockwork Orange. :) Stephen was the perfect host once again and played up for a nice photo shot. Interview can be found here... for the next month anyway :)

What a fine pair :)

M for Murder

More planning, but this time for our Murder Mystery evening at the Library Restaurant in Norwich. Tickets have sold very well and it will be hard to get any seats now. Actors are primed and excited, final touches being added to the evening and some clues will be hidden along the way.  I want everyone to have an amazing time and be entertained. We've put a lot of work into the evening and I won't be happy unless every one goes away happy! Have a really great night everyone. www.m-murder-mystery.co.uk
